HARDSCRABBLE DAY A BIG HIT IN RED HOOK
The people of Red Hook and its surrounding communities partied in the streets on Saturday for the annual Hardscrabble Day.
Hardscrabble Day, which was organized by a committee of volunteers working under the Village of Red Hook Board of Trustees, has been celebrated for 34 years.
The event featured a parade, a variety of food and beverages, booths for community organizations, art exhibits, live music, street vendors and more.
The highlight of the day, though, was an evening performance by the Average White Band, best known for their song “Pick Up the Pieces.” Prior to the performance, an enthusiastic crowd welcomed the band to Red Hook by chanting “AWB, AWB!”
Following the concert, many made their way to Red Hook High School to watch the Raiders play under the lights.
