HVNews EXCLUSIVE: Obama and Oprah expected
to be at Clinton Wedding
by Jim Langan
The Hudson Valley News is reporting in its July 14 edition that President Barack Obama and talk show queen Oprah Winfrey will be among the 500 guests expected at the July 31 wedding of Chelsea Clinton and Mark Mezvinsky. The President is expected to land at Stewart Airport in Newburgh, New York and take Marine One across the Hudson to Astor Court in Rhinebeck. Stewart Airport shares space with an active Air Force base and was the site of the Iranian hostages return to U.S. soil in 1981. Sources tell Hudson Valley News there is likely to be celebrity overload in Rhinebeck, a charming community 90 miles north of New York City. The Clintons have been frequent visitors to Rhinebeck, having visited for pleasure and political fundraising. Rhinebeck is a favored weekend retreat for many wealthy New Yorkers. Among those invited to the wedding are singer Barbra Streisand, Kate Capshaw and Steven Speilberg, former Clinton advisor Harold Ickes, Clinton money man Terry McAuliffe, former British Prime Minister John Major, historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, media mogul Ted Turner and long time Clinton friend Denise Rich.
